iInstagram... One of the biggest marketing platforms in the social media world. So many of my favorite small business's are on instagram, and instagram is providing over 75% of their client base! Heck instagram provides me over half of my clients! This is driven through posts, shares, tagging, hashtags, and more. But have you ever noticed you're more drawn to certain pages or brands more than others? Is it their branding colors, their images, is it their presence on their stories? Well its all the above, I'm not only saying this because I'm a branding photographer and want you to hire me... Obviously I would be stoked to work with y'all. But I'm saying this because professional photos are just better quality. By using a professional photographer not only does your instagram look amazing and cohesive but you website looks clean, high end, and professional! As a photographer I take pride in what I do and I put a ton of time into your brand! I spend hours planning the session, taking the photos, and editing them. All this I do so that you have a cohesive brand, stellar photos, and let's be real content to post that you don't have to stress about! It's there and ready to go in an easy to access gallery.
Lets talk shopping experience... We are all women, we all know what we like. I love clean easy to use websites when Im shopping. If it takes to much effort to find the pants section of the website I'm out. Also back to images, if the boutique has just thrown up some cell phone pictures onto their website and called it good i will immediately close out and go look somewhere else. To me cell phone picture say cheap and that I wont ship your order for 4 weeks. This being said, to all my little business's just starting out reading this saying "LADY I cant afford a professional photographer for all my content yet!" Don't stress here are a few tips to make your photos a little less phone like and a little more professional.
#1. We all have the newest and greatest cell phone so put that new Iphone with the 4k to use, and invest in some presets! I you struggle with making your images cohesive and flow throughout your platforms, presets are an amazing way to start making a little magic in your biz! This helps so so much and you can pick up good presets for pennies! So go try some out! Start making baby steps towards the best version of business you!
#2. Website. Ok so maybe you cant afford me to come do all your marketing for you and take photos of all your products... How do you make your website look just a little bit stronger and more appealing? Flat lays, there are millions of tools out there to help you accomplish these. Even if you have some Iphone picture with a preset on them showing the pant/shirt/jacket on someone, flatlay the item as the main image with some flowers, a belt, a cowhide rug, anything! This gives your website a flow that is extremely pleasing to the eye!
#3. Start trying to crunch numbers in your budget and hire a photographer! Ask local girls to model for you and hire a photographer for a mini content shoot! This gets other people posting your product with professional photos, gets more traffic to your page and site! It also gives the girls and opportunity to see your product and its quality and recommend it to all their friends! Brand ambassador programs are amazing incentive to get girls modeling for you as well, and them posting the SHIZ out of your product.
To wrap it up:
I hope this was helpful to y'all and that these tips inspired you in some way to start to make big steps in your business! As a branding photographer who loves serving local small business's I do a ton of custom packages for small business's depending on the need they have! If you're ready to get this party started and make the jump into hiring a professional branding photographer contact me for a free quote and client consultation!
Oh our fur babies! If you are like me you love love love them, they are apart of your family! But sometimes its so overwhelming getting them to participate and just behave during a photo session! So today Im going to help you out just a little bit and give you a couple tips to help your babies behave and allow you to be a little less stressed at you next session with them!
I know this sounds silly but practice for your session at the park with a friend or spouse! Have the friend take photos with your phone. But practice standing next to them and having them sit and stay! If your puppy is food driven treats are always great bribery, or even using their favorite toys! Then take a seat and practice having them just sit or lay down next to you! Cause lets be honest if we don't practice this and we sit down in out cute dress at the session they will leap into our lap and well thats the end of our cute outfit!
I have no shame at sessions i will bribe your puppies, babies, or even in some cases shy husband's with snacks or toys! This works so very very well with puppies! So bring your puppies favorite treat with you along with their favorite toy that makes noise! You will thank me after I promise!
This may be the most important one! Sometimes our children don't behave and I can say that for both fur children and human children! But relax and trust me, I'm pretty good at my job if I may say so myself! I will capture moments you didn't know happened, I capture sweet looks, puppy kisses, and frazzled moments you wont want to forget! So relax sit back and enjoy the crazy ride that is our lives!
These shoes are literally the bomb! So i decided to take this opportunity since it is a Bangs Blitz day to spread a little love about these shoes! I'll be linking their website below and adding some photos as well!
I came upon this brand through a friend who is absolutely obsessed with them, I soon found out why! This brand is actually so incredible and is a community full of amazing, creative, and adventurous people! Every month you may notice I post for Bangs Blitz. This is a day for ambassadors of Bangs to dig deep and get creative! We get our monthly Bangs blitz "topic" and from there we get to get really creative! I will admit Ive been slacking the last few months with just being stupid busy with life! But this month I got my shoes out and took them on an adventure, to the Tulip Fields near us in Aubrey, Texas! My Hubby John turned into my instagram hubby for about 10 min and snapped some photos of me picking some tulips, I obviously like most photographers hate being on the other side of the lens but I survived!
But you may be saying ok thats fine but other than being a cute pair of shoes why should I even care that you like this company and their community! Well let me tell ya! Bangs purpose is to support all entrepreneurs, they have helped over 3000 people get their business's off the ground in about 70 states! 20% off ALL their profits go towards funding and supporting a new business that is trying to get going! I mean how cool is that! So let me ask you this, are you buying from a company that supports people like you, that care about us little people, that want to see us become successful, and cheer us on all along the way? If not then its time to start, head over to Bangs and pick out the perfect pair of shoes that match your vibe and your style and start supporting you fellow creatives and hard working business owners! They will thank you for it later!
If you are curious about bangs and want to learn more visit the link below and start digging in and get your adventure on.
John laughed and said he felt so manly squatting down and picking flowers! But i thought he looked very cute even though he was very sarcastic as I tried taking his picture! Also Im wearing the Nautical Mile High tops from BANGS.
Ok guys seriously pathetic that its the middle of February and I'm just now getting to our Christmas trip back to Montana. But better late than never am I right... Probably not right on that but hey its fine! I don't even know where to start honestly so I'll start at the beginning! We left Fort Worth at 7 am on a Friday morning and started driving loaded up with snacks, luggage, puppies and of course John & I. It was great until we NEVER got out of Texas! Im not lying it felt like we drove for DAYS to get out of Texas! We finally hit the Oklahoma border, blinked and we were in Colorado.... This is when i started getting HANGRY. Pregnancy is no joke... When you gotta eat you gotta eat... well I snacked because out in the middle of nowhere Colorado there wasn't any food insight, so lunch I snacked, dinner I snacked, but 7 o'clock rolled around and baby wasn't taking anymore snacking... She needed food now, so where did we eat you ask... a cute little cafe? A nice steak house? pizza? HAH no no, we ate at a ratchet truck stop Subway... Both me and John were less than impressed with this subway and the gas station... But it did the trick and I was fine once again after getting fed a little bit of bread. About 2 hours later we made it to our less than satisfactory hotel in Fort Collins. Lets just say yuck and move on!
Next day I got to shoot in the beautiful Colorado mountains and then I did actually get to eat a Ginger & Baker in down town Fort collins and I was not disappointed! Their food was absolutely incredible and they had the best pastries and deserts in the coffee bar connected to the restaurant. All in all the whole place made me want to start my own Ginger & Baker someday!
Next was the trip to Billings Montana. We left Fort Collins at around 2:30 Saturday and rolled into Billings around 10:30 or 11:00 pm. This hotel was SOOOOO much better and we slept like babies! Next day I shot with a client for the morning and then had lunch with some dear old friends and then we headed off to Whitefish to see Johns parents!
We stayed in Whitefish for 4 days and it was full of amazing meals, time with friends and family. we went shopping for fun baby stuff with my mother-in-law and found so many cute things! (Good thing we didn't know the gender at this time of we might have not had gas money for the trip home!) It was a great time just being home and spending quality time with the family.
We ended up having two Christmas's that week, So lots of yummy food was consumed and we were fat and happy as we spent the last few days of our trip in Bozeman Montana. The Saturday after Christmas we started the long trip home... Staying in Fort Collins once again Saturday night! We woke up had a wonderful breakfast and then headed out, and yes I did get my Dutch Bro's coffee and it was seriously to die for and Im truly hoping that they come to Fort Worth very very soon! We finally rolled into Fort Worth at about 1 am and we were exhausted! I swore I was going to stay awake to talk to John while he drove but i leaned forward to grab something off the floor and next thing i knew we were parked in front of our house and i had a terrible kink in my back and neck from being slumped over and folded in half for the last 2 hours of the trip! All in all it was a great first trip for John and I as a married couple and we cant wait to do more... Just maybe no more 25 hour trips! Posting some fun photos I took in Colorado, after this I ended up slacking and just enjoying the moments with family and left my camera in its bag for the rest of the trip! But enjoy and drop where you next trip is going to be in the comments! Don't have any trips planned? Then drop you dream vacation spot!
Ok guys so it's no secret Ive had a lot going on since the spring of 2019. Getting engaged, moving twice, getting married, moving to Texas, finding out we are expecting our first little girl in June 2020, and going full time with my business all by the time November 2019 rolled around. Even typing it all out makes me want to crawl into a hermit hole and never come out! But truth is, I have found myself growing immensely these last few months. Moving to Texas was a huge step for me, I went through the grief of leaving all my family and friends behind, I experienced intense isolation for the first 2 and half months of living here, and felt so alone. It was HARD guys, but in that time I started to grow, even though I didn't see it, I was growing. I pulled my self out of the dark empty place I was in and started to work... HARD! I worked on my business, my goals, my relationship with my new husband, and most importantly my relationship God.
This was a huge step for us, but the first Sunday of January we started attending a new local church called Watermark, along with an amazing marriage group through the church. I started praying again, I started reading a daily devotional and spending time with God every morning consistently for the first time in my life! I was starting to feel whole again, like I belonged somewhere that was just right for me and my growing family. Shortly after focusing all my attention on my relationship with God things got easier. Easier with my business, my marriage, preparing for our little girl, and learning the fact is that in no way can I do this walk called life alone! The community we have gained from our new church is absolutely incredible, they truly care about each and every person that walks through the doors of that church, and they don't stop there! They invite you to new years parties, super bowl games, or to their house for dinner 10 minutes into sitting next to them during the service. They live for their community as children of God and are constantly making everyone know they are not alone, that they care, that God cares, and that when you are in need they are there to help and walk along side you in those challenging times!
I have been filled, filled with love, grace, and humility. I now see this flooding into other places in my life, living as God has asked us to live and follow him! My business is booming and Im honestly shocked at the transformation within my business the last month after making the focus switch from self to God! Im feeling so incredibly blessed to have the wonderful people I do supporting my business here in Texas!
However that being said and me just gushing over our new church... Here is How I am staying organized, how am I planning all of the things that need to be planned and keeping everything on track!
As most of my friends that are entrepreneurs will know it get full on CRAZY TOWN sometimes and for it being January/February ( My slow season) I cant believe everything I have going on right now! So by trial and error I have found a method to my madness. I have three calendars. This includes a white board by my bed, my HoneyBook calendar, and my Iphone calendar, I sit down at least three times a week and make sure they are all lining up! This has helped so much to keep me from double booking or even over booking my schedule, because lets be honest I'm only human I make mistakes! But that being said I hate making little mistakes like that. Oh did I mention I've taken on two side jobs as well.... YAAAAAAA so thats made me have to be organized to the extreme because I have weekends and even weeks I'm going to be gone and out of town but still need to get things done, so how do I keep everything going and get all the boxes checked and tasks accomplished? Well one way I've found to be helpful is Trello. This has been a life saver when it comes to planning events or even keeping track tasks that need to be done that I cant get to right away! Next would be Striv3r... This is actually a new business my friend is starting and I'm a guinea pig for start up! In future I will be telling a lot more about Stiv3r and maybe even doing a blog post on it when it officially launches, so stay tuned! But in short its helping me stay focused on my 3 year goals and the things that I need to do on the daily and weekly that keep me on track, even if thats as simple as taking a shower and washing my hair that has 4 days worth of dry shampoo in it! Lastly would be my wonderful husband and boss babes that keep me on track EVERY single day... I couldn't do it without my tribe, and for them i will forever be so grateful!
Big picture is, you can't do life alone, you're not perfect, and sometimes we just need to give ourselves some grace and keep on rollin! My way of staying organized might not work perfectly for you, but that is OK! Find your own groove, find the way you work best and stay on track the best! Ill be praying for you all because I know things are about to become crazy town as the weather starts warming up and business starts picking up! Stay strong and I'll see you all soon!
Also if any of you are interested in HoneyBook Ill be linking my code below to get 50% off your first year! Thats $200 dollars off! And believe me, its worth every penny!
Spearfish, South Dakota. Im gonna be back for a whole week this February! Im so frikin excited for everything that comes with this trip! Im doing a Styled wedding shoot at the Black hills Barn that is gonna be EPIC! Also I've joined up with Brita, who owns Sweet Fluff Cotton Candy, to do some super fun mini session at the barn on February 16th. I'll be dropping some fun sneak peaks into our inspiration for these along with details below!
As most of you know I lived in Newell, South Dakota for a short time in 2018 before moving back home to Montana. However soon after in 2019 I moved back to Newell to plan my wedding and prepare to move to Texas where I am currently! In the short time I lived in South Dakota I made some amazing contacts with some of the local business owners and it was truly so fulfilling keeping in touch with these ladies! Well not to long ago i got to talking with one of my favorite ladies from there Tia ( owns The Black Hills barn) and we decided it would be fun to do a whole weekend of fun collaborations! So thus the Styled wedding shoot and the cotton candies started coming alive! You will all have to wait to see sneak peaks of wedding shoot in my insta stories and final edits when Im done, but as for cotton candy minis I will let you guys in on some of the fun.
We are getting ready to head home to Montana for the whole week of Christmas and I couldn't be more excited! Many of you that know me know I'm a huge foodie! So about two weeks ago I made a list of spots that are my favorite places in Montana to grab a coffee or just get some yummy food! So i thought i would share them with you guys because if your local to Montana or planning a trip there yourself then these are a must do while you are there! Also i added two places to the list that are in Colorado, these were highly recommended by friends and my best friend Yelp!
( Im that person that yelps everywhere we eat! Silly I KNOW! )
But onto the best part! Telling you all the must stops on our way home!
My First stop in Colorado is going to be Dutch Bros! My best friend/fellow boss babe used to work at Dutch Bros in Washington and she would rave about them! Mostly they are known for their service and the amazing people that work there! So yes I'm obviously going for the coffee and snacks, but I want to see what all the rage is about and I made it a must stop on our travel itinerary.
NEXT. So This cute little place I stumbled on because a fellow photographer Molly told me about it for a possible shoot location! Ginger & Baker is this ADORABLE Cafe located in Fort Collins CO. Obviously scouting for locations I ended up googling the cafe and started down the rabbit hole of looking at their menu instead of the location! AND OMG GUYS the food looked so so so good! Like my mouth is watering just thinking about it! ALSO I will definitely be using this as a location cause how cute is this place!
I don't even know where to start so I'm going to start by town! So Kalispell/Whitefish...
Fleur Bakeshop, I don't really remember the first time I went into Fleur but I was hooked forever after, it was love at first sight. Which brings me to our slight detour in the next few sentences!
Fun background with Fleur, John, and I. Fleur ended up making little Smore pastry/tarts for the styled wedding shoot we were in when John Proposed, it may make me sappy and sentimental but every time I get to go into her shop and get some yummy little treats it takes me back to the day that we got engaged!
But onto the food... Since I was home last Fleur has moved their shop to downtown Whitefish and they have started serving PIZZA! Anddddddd for anyone that doesn't know im frikin in love/obsessed with pizza! So obviously I'm going back for all her delish sweet treats anddddddd I have to try the pizza I see on instagram stories allllll the time!
Next stop. Copper Mountain Coffee... Originally I planned on getting my favorite, Bull of the woods with raspberry & Coconut, with cream and whip... so healthy i know! Now I have no idea what ill get because I'm pretty sure this baby would be packing its bag and heading out if I drank a redbull! But everything from there is so so yummy and definitely my favorite pick-me up coffee shop in the Flathead Valley.
Next up Bozeman.
Oh Bozeman! This place has such a sweet spot for me! The best memories as a child were spent in Bozeman and the best year of my adult life was spent in Bozeman! So you could say the places I want to revisit are sentimental as well as gosh darn yummy!
First on the list Sidewinders... Their french fries and the oh so yummy S pretzel. This was a staple for me when I lived there, not sure how I'm not 500 lbs. But me and my best girl friends would go and get fries, pretzels, and huckleberry mules after a long day of work and just shove our face with the goodness! So I cant wait to reunite with them and do our good ole tradition!
FoxTrots Macro Bowl... This is pry the healthiest thing on my food list! This veggie/rice bowl is seriously soooooo good! I would probably get this at least once a week, now I see why I was always broke, but that is beside the point! I love food and when its good food with good friends its all worth it!
Ok everyone that is a wrap on my food to do while Im home. I struggled to keep it smallish! There are so many places I love back home that its hard to just pick a few! I hope you guys get to try at least one of these places and you love them as much as I do!
This is my little nephew Hudson Kaleb. I haven't seen this little doll in about two month and I cannot believe how much he has grown! I love this little man and I cant wait to see the amazing little man he becomes! With such an amazing momma I know he is capable of wonderful things! His mom Emily is one of the best friends I've had in years and we've already decided he's going to marry my future little girl! So technically me and my love John need to get on it! I haven't told him this yet but I'm sure he'll get on board! Check out this cutie and all his funny faces!
This Family was such a joy to work with! Little William was shy at first but we were soon racing through the park and highfiving! Oakmont was beautiful, the leaves were still on the trees and red, yellow, and orange! This family is so special and I'm just honored to have captured their story and the love between them all. Veronica brought a blanket that was made by her grandmother, Veronica said she makes each grandchild one when they are born, married, and when they had a great grand baby! How marvelous is that? I was fortunate enough to know my great grandmother and got to experience this special gift as well as a child, I was attached to that blanket until i was at least 4! I love traditions like this and even though I do not sow or knit I very much want to find something very special and meaningful to do for my own children!
These two were such an amazing couple and we had literally the most amazing spot to shoot at the NRS Ranch in Decatur. We had a few sweet photo bombers in the background at the beginning but their curiosity soon wore off and they left us alone! Bailey & Philip are getting married in less than two weeks and I'm SOOOOOOO stinkin excited for them! These two were champs through out this whole session, it was a balmy 30 degrees feeling like it was 15! But the didn't let that stop them from laughing, dancing, and having the time of their lives! Peep their session below!
